Wayuu cuisine
At the heart of Ranchería Utta, gastronomy is much more than food. It is a sensory journey through the flavors, traditions, and ancestral knowledge of the Wayuu people.
We use fresh, locally sourced ingredients, chosen with respect for the land and the culture, to prepare traditional recipes passed down from generation to generation.
Shop

Handcrafts are one of the most colorful expressions of Wayuu culture. They are made by Indigenous women who shape and color multiple threads to create patterns and designs that reflect our heritage. At Ranchería Utta, your stay in Cabo de la Vela includes access to products of the highest quality.

An experience like no other! I spent four nights at Utta in early August 2023 with my husband and our two children. It was an experience like no other. The room was clean and... See more Lovely place, with very helpful staff (Ana, Will, and others whose names I sadly can’t remember), wonderful hammocks, and delicious, generous meals. Since we hadn’t planned any excursions in advance, possibly a mistake, Ana gave us great tips on where to go, including an incredible beach about an hour’s walk away that we had all to ourselves, unless you count the pelicans diving for fish. Yes, it’s hot. Yes, it’s sandy. It’s not luxurious, but it has everything you need and it was very calm and peaceful. We spent our afternoons in the hammocks or playing Parques at the bar table, and our evenings after dinner stargazing on the beach. A really nice place.

The best ranchería - Excellent stay. The cabins are very comfortable, with running water and electricity, which is impressive given the remote location. The food was great, the service was good, and having a private beach to enjoy the scenery made it even better.
For... See more Those who want more comfort should choose the cabins. For the more adventurous, the chinchorros are perfect, right by the beach, where you can wake up to the sunrise without even having to move.
